Mount Kenya University to sponsor Ruiru club Golf tournament

Mount Kenya University will this weekend be the main sponsor of the 2019 Ruiru Sports Club Chairman’s Prize tournament in Kiambu County.

Recent winners Patrick Miitii and Dominic Mathu will lead the charge during the tournament that has attracted over 250 golfers.

The 2019 Ruiru Sports Club Chairman’s Prize will be the highlight of golfing action this weekend.

Various golfers are expected to participate in the Engineer James Muraguri tournament tomorrow as his one-year term at the Thika-Road based Club comes to an end.

Mount Kenya University is the main sponsor of the event that has attracted other brands such as regional lender KCB Bank, events firm PSAV Audio Visual and Swahili Beach Hotel among others.

MKU will use the event to announce its partial sponsorship towards the course irrigation project that the club has embarked on.

The institution is expected to help complete the project that is meant to raise the club’s profile as a championship course.

Golf captain Peter Mwaura, who is in his second one-year term, said over 250 golfers are lined up for the tourney. This comes at the back of the highly successful Captain’s and Lady Captain’s tournaments hosted earlier this month.

The competition will draw in over 10 pros, five juniors, 70 caddies and 200 amateurs.

There will be over 30 categories of prizes among them special prizes for the Media, Clergy, Reciprocating Clubs and Detour Golfers.
