Moustafi set for Arsenal as Gyan heads to Reading

By KBC Reporter.

German defender Shkordan Mustafi has admitted his countryman Mesut Ozil convinced him to join Arsenal.

The 24-year-old is set to sign for the Gunners from Valencia this week on a five-year deal, with Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger confirming that deals for the German defender and Lucas Perez are almost complete.

Mustafi came through the youth systems at Hamburg and Everton before breaking into the first team at Sampdoria, and joined Valencia in 2014.

He has been capped 12 times by Germany and scored against Ukraine at Euro 2016.

Meanwhile, Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is set to join Reading on a season loan from Chinese side Shanghai SIPG.

The 30-year-old former Sunderland striker is having a medical with the Championship side.

Gyan scored 10 Premier League goals for the Black Cats during a two-year spell from 2010, before moving to Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates.

He joined Shanghai in 2015 and – at the time – became one of the highest-paid footballers in the world.
