Mudavadi supporters are happy with his latest political move, says lawyer Lungwe

City lawyer Jackson Lungwe has disclosed that Amani National Congress (ANC) party supporters are happy with the position their party leader Musalia Mudavadi has taken to work with Deputy President William Ruto ahead of August General Elections.

Mudavadi was endorsed on Sunday 23 by the Party’s National Delegates Congress (NDC) which also mandated him to negotiate and enter coalition agreements with like minded individuals led by DP Ruto who attended the event.

The move to join forces with the United Democratic Alliance boss has elicited mixed reactions in the Kenyan politics with the youthful advocate of the high court saying former Vice President’s decision augured well with his supporters.

“The irony of politics: People who’re so mad at Hon. Mudavadi are those who don’t support him especially from western Kenya, the ones so aggrieved are those staunchly supporting his opponents. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT; Mudavadi’s supporters are happy for his latest move,” noted Lungwe

Hundreds of ANC delegates who attended the meeting at the Bomas of Kenya officially gave Mudavadi the mantle to spearhead the interests of political outfit in National politics.

Weeks ago, Mudavadi castigated President Uhuru Kenyatta for appearing to ask Kenyans to back the candidature of his handshake partner in the 2022 state house race.

“We do not want anybody, even at the lowest level, to feel intimidated when making their 2022 choices,” Mudavadi said.

However,Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga’s allies dismissed the new deal as inconsequential saying the announcement would not undermine former Prime Minister’s fifth stab at the Presidency.

The ANC leader who has previously worked with Odinga in the 2007 as a running mate and 2017 general election in the defunct National Super Alliance (NASA) revealed that attempts to restore trust between him and Odinga have proved futile.

Western leaders allied to Mudavadi had cautioned him against entering into political alliances blindly with new partners.
