Famed Mugithi singer Salim Junior, real name Paul Mwangi, is dead.
He died on Saturday morning at Nakuru Memorial hospital.
Reports indicate that the singer died after a long battle with an illness.
Salim Jr is perhaps the most visible member of a renowned musical family from Subukia in Nakuru.
The family, led by Salim Senior, junior’ father, is credited for the popularization of the Mugithi or 1 man guitar technique.
The tradition continues through Salim junior’s other siblings who are also Mugithi artistes namely Mighty Salim, Sarafina Salim and Salim Young.
Contrary to popular belief, in spite of their name Salim, the family is not Muslim.
