Muia, Nzisa shine in Makueni Half Marathon

Katui Muia clocked 1 hour, 6 minutes and 40 second to be crowned the champion of the second edition of the Makueni Half Marathon yesterday beating closest rival John Mulu who clocked 1 hour, 6 minutes and 48 seconds. Stephen Mwendwa was third in 1 hour, 7 minutes and 2 seconds.

Nancy Nzisa was too fast in the ladies 21 kilometre race winning in 1 hour, 18 minutes and 25 seconds ahead of Sharon Muriuki and Lucia Kamene who had to settle for second and third positions respectively.

The champions of the race pocketed 50,000 shillings each with second and third placed persons walking away with 40 and 30 thousand shillings each.

Meanwhile Peter Wambua and Maryanne Wangari won the Limuru half marathon which attracted over 500 participants. Wambua clocked 1 hour, nine minutes and 10 seconds to win the men’s race ahead of George Waiyaki and Lazarus Yeyo who settled for second and third positions respectively.

Maryanne Wangari’s pace could not be matched in the women’s race clocking 1 hour, 20 minutes and 59 seconds to emerge victorious ahead of Esther Waweru and Martha Njoroge who were second and third respectively.
