Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has announced the establishment of a selection panel responsible for recruiting a new Chairperson and seven Commissioners for the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).

Murkomen noted that the tenure of the current officeholders, led by Chairperson Rev. Samuel Kobia, will conclude on November 17, 2025, marking the end of their six-year tenure that began in November 2019.

“There are impending vacancies in the membership of the Commission arising from the anticipated expiry of the six (6) year non-renewable term of office of the current members,” the CS stated in a special Gazette Notice dated November 4, 2025.

The newly formed seven-member Selection Panel will be tasked with identifying qualified nominees for the Commission’s next leadership. The panel includes Reuben Chirchir, Francis Meja, Pauline Mcharo, Col. (Rtd.) Alfred Mshimba, Michael Nzomo Mbithuka, and Rtd. Lady Justice Hannah Okwengu.

The NCIC is mandated to promote national cohesion, equality of opportunity, and peaceful coexistence among Kenya’s diverse ethnic, racial, and religious communities.
