Maendeleo Chap Chap Party intends to introduce bills to generate employment among the youth in Kenya, Party leader Dr. Alfred Mutua has said.
The bills will require the National and County Governments to budget for and set up factories and office parks in every constituency and ward in Kenya.
According to Mutua, MCC Party legislators will bring the bills for consideration and debate in Parliament and County assemblies.
The bills, titled Maendeleo Chap Chap Employment Creation Bills are at the moment being drafted for tabling.
“The only way to create massive employment and grow wealth is by industrialization,” Dr. Mutua said after consultations with Party officials in Nairobi. “We cannot depend on foreigners or just investor. As Governments, we have to be proactive and think out of the box.”
Dr. Mutua says a factory, an industry or office that employs 500 people in a ward creates an additional 5000 indirect Jobs in the community.
According to Dr. Mutua, if a new manufacturing industry is created in just half the 1250 wards, each creating 500 direct jobs and 5,000 indirect jobs, the country will have created over 3 million jobs, especially for youth.
“We are tired of seeing our young people losing hope. This program will create many jobs and change lives. This is the kind of politics needed in Kenya,” Mutua added.
Dr. Mutua plans to showcase this possibility by starting to establish such factories in Machakos wards.
This proposal is in line with Uhuru Kenyatta’s manufacturing pillar and if approved will see unemployment rolled back significantly in Kenya.
“Maendeleo Chap Chap is about changing lives and not playing with the minds of jobless youth,” Mutua added. “The time for real political change is here.”
