Muturi presidential bid gets backing from Western, Nyanza

Democratic Party officials from Western Kenya and Nyanza have endorsed Speaker Justin Muturi as their party’s presidential candidate.

The officials told Muturi to roll out his campaign in every county to give DP a chance of forming the next government.

They noted that DP, as the first opposition party to put a candidate into State House, retired President Mwai Kibaki, still retains presence in every ward in the country.

Let the Speaker return this Party to what it was during the Kibaki presidential candidacy in 1992 and 1997, said the officials who addressed the media in a Kisumu hotel.

The branch party chair persons were Washington Openda (Kisumu), Emily Khaoya (Vihiga), Charles Omotanyi (Kakamega), Richard Koko (Busia) and Willis Awaga (Siaya).

The Speaker who has been out of the country is expected back on Sunday.

His political managers have indicated that he will roll out a widespread campaign across various counties.
