Newly elected Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has pledged to fully support the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party and its leader, Raila Odinga.
The Mumias East legislator affirmed that the coalition is more united than ever amid a mass exodus of politicians from Azimio to President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza camp.
“My loyalty to Raila Odinga and Azimio can never be revised. If you are expecting division amongst us, pole sana, we are are going to be more united as we commence our duty to serve Kenyans,” he said
The MP was elected on a Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) ticket which is affiliated to the Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya coalition party.
On Friday, Azimio held a parliamentary group meeting in Athi River where Raila urged all MPS to remain united and actively push the coalition’s legislative agenda.
He condemned defections by some of the members to the President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza terming the move as individualistic and selfish.
“If you do not unite, you are going to be ruled throughout the life of Parliament and yet we have the numbers and strength to be able to be rulers in the House,” he warned the lawmakers
After the Speaker election in both the National Assembly and Senate, where Kenya Kwanza’s Moses Wetangula and Amson Kingi won the seats, the focus now shifts to majority leader seats in both houses.
Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance and Raila’s Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya are both holding parliamentary group meetings to deliberate on majority leadership of both National Assembly and Senate.
