NCIC to IEBC: Demonstrate impartiality in August election

By Brenda Czeda

National Cohesion and Integration Commission is challenging the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to demonstrate leadership and impartiality in managing the August election.

The Francis ole Kaparo led commission wants IEBC to apply the law to the latter and ban those politicians who will incite Kenyans to violence during the electioneering period.

Under the banner UWIANO Platform for Peace NCIC Chair Francis Ole Kaparo says politicians’ unchecked utterances in public forums and misuse of social media platforms by Kenyans is fuelling tribalism and hate among communities.

Kaparo wants the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to ensure and impartiality in the conduct of the next polls and in the ongoing Mass voter registration exercise.

He at the same time condemned the recent heckling of several leaders in different forums in the country saying every leader or politician is entitled to popularize his or her manifesto in every part of the Kenya.

NCIC is pleading with Kenyans to embrace tolerance to avoid confrontations that may cause chaos ahead of this year’s General Election.
