NEMA warns against discharging untreated effluent to the environment

National Environmental Management Authority Chairman John Konchellah has warned hotels in Isiolo discharging untreated effluent to the environment.

Konchellah says such premises will be closed if they don’t comply with the laid down guidelines.

He also stated that the Authority has enhanced crackdown on those using banned plastic bags in Isiolo as well as other parts of the Country.

Konchellah spoke after he led Board Members to pay a courtesy call to Isiolo County Commissioner, Herman Shambi on Thursday.

The board also planted trees at Nema Green Point in Isiolo town as part of efforts to enhance forest cover on the country.
