Court declines to issue orders to block approval of Mombasa CEC nominees

Employment and Labour Relations Court in Mombasa has declined to issue conservatory orders to block the approval process of the County Executive Committee Members by the Mombasa County Assembly.

Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has nominated 10 CECs, the County Secretary, and the Chief Executive Officer to the Mombasa County Public Service Board, and a host of advisors to help run the government.

However, four Mombasa residents have  moved to court under the certificate of urgency seeking orders to block the appointment process alleging the governor had contravened the law in nominating the individuals.

In the ruling that certified the matter as urgent, Lady Justice Agnes Nzei pointed out that the petitioners had failed to prove the Governor contravened the Constitution but allowed  the respondents to file and serve their responses by Monday 26th.

The matter is set for determination next week.
