The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Ezekiel Machogu has asked administrators of University Education institutions to safeguard the quality and standards of the education they give students.
Machogu said the leadership of universities should ensure effects caused by the problem of quality and standards of education they provide are minimised.
The Cabinet Secretary made the remarks when members of the Egerton University Council, which was led by its chairperson, Dr Hakka Wario, paid a courtesy call on him in his Jogoo House office yesterday.
“University must be impactful in the community,” Machogu said.
Principal Secretary for University education and Research, Dr Beatrice Inyangala, the Vice Chancellor Egerton University, Prof Isaac Kibwage were also in attendance.
Dr Wario said the Council of Egerton University was keen to safeguard the quality and standards of education even as it addresses the financial challenges it was facing.
He said the internal evaluation system was strong as it ensured the rigour of the degree programmes was maintained.
