A Mombasa court has granted police more time to complete investigations in a case where 20-year-old allegedly murdered his 80-year-old grandmother.

Abdulaziz Swaleh allegedly killed his grandmother by slitting her throat in Old Town, on 21st January 2023.

Mombasa Principal Magistrate Vincent Adet ordered that the accused be taken for a mental assessment test.

Swaleh, who was arraigned in court on Tuesday, confessed to committing the gruesome murder saying he had joined an illuminati cult that instructed him to kill his grandmother.

“Its true I killed her. I’m sorry, I ask for forgiveness but I only did it after joining illuminati,” he said

Police will continue holding the suspect in custody until 8th February 2023 when the case will come up for a mention in court.
