Members of Parliament hold four-day Post Election Seminar in Mombasa

Members of the National Assembly are currently holding a Post Election Seminar (PES) in conjunction with Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in Mombasa.

The four-day conference that started Monday is an event within the Commonwealth fraternity which takes place at the beginning of the term for newly elected legislators, will be officially opened by President William Ruto who is also expected to make a keynote address. 

The forum will be key in enhancing the capacity of members of parliament to efficiently and effectively perform their constitutional mandate; strengthening Members’ understanding of parliamentary practices, procedures and processes while developing a better understanding of the legislative system and democratic processes. 

It is also expected to manage the seamless transition of new members to ensure they accustom to life in Parliament through the sharing of experiences and managing expectations.

In an earlier communication to the Members, Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, noted that the seminar is aimed at building capacity for the legislators in all aspects of good parliamentary practice, as well as promoting national values and ideals of parliamentary democracy.

The seminar which will be held at the Pride-inn Paradise Convention Centre, will run from 30th January to 2nd February, 2023.
