The suspect will be detained at the Gigiri police station for seven days pending trial.

A Kiambu court has ordered a mental assessment test for former Gatanga CMM Deputy Principal Elizabeth Gatimu to ascertain her fitness to stand trial in the murder of Ebby Noelle Samuels.

Ebby who was a Form 1 student at the school which has since changed its name to St Anuarite Gatanga Girls Secondary died under mysterious circumstances in March 2019.

The school had claimed that the student died after falling from her bed at night.

However, a report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed that the girl was assaulted severely by a teacher, on allegations that her hair had been styled contrary to school regulation.

An autopsy would later reveal that Ebby bled to death after she was hit with an object on her forehead, breaking her skull leading to internal bleeding.

The circumstances have since led to the arrest of the former Deputy Principal of the school who is alleged to have murdered Ebby.
