The newly-appointed Regional Commissioners have been tasked with cataloguing security issues in their respective areas of jurisdiction in line with the government's new tack of developing customized responses on a region-by-region basis.

In his first meeting with the commissioners, Interior CS Prof. Kithure Kindiki also pointed out the need for more active participation by National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) in execution of government-funded development programmes and projects in the country. 

County governments are an integral part of the security system hence the need for collaboration with the national government.
