Korogocho MCA Absalom Odhiambo has been freed on Ksh100,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty to two charges of incitement to violence.

The MCA was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts before Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina on Monday.

Odhiambo was however cautioned against interfering with witnesses or making comments on the case through the media.

The MCA was first arrested one week ago by officers drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations after hours of grilling by the NCIC.

The DCI accused Odhiambo of allegedly making inflammatory remarks during a public address at Chungwa House, the headquarters of ODM.

Police also accused the MCA of incitement during a rally organized by the Azimio party at Kamukunji grounds.

Investigators in the case requested to detain Odhiambo for seven days, a request which was denied by the court and he was released unconditionally.

The MCA’s release comes just a day after Azimio leader Raila Odinga demanded for his immediate release after claims of second arrest.

The claims were made public by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino who claimed Odhiambo was being held at Tigoni Police station.
