At least 10 million motorists have used
the Nairobi Expressway since it was launched in July last year, Moja Expressway
CEO Steve Zhao has said.
Speaking during the 10,000,000th Million Milestone Celebration on Tuesday, Steve Zhao revealed that on average, about 50,000 vehicles make use of the road in a day, a five-time increment from the since trial operations on May last year.
“It gives me pride to admit that this journey has been successful because of the contributions from all who are gathered here today. As of 7th February 2023, the total number of vehicles that have used the Nairobi Expressway stands at ten million,” said Zhao.
The Ksh 87 billion Expressway was launched by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 was set to ease traffic congestion on Mombasa road and mobility in the city.
Implemented by Kenha, Nairobi Expressway is the largest Private Public Partnership project in the country.
The 27-Kilometre Expressway has 10 interchanges, including the SGR terminus at JKIA, Eastern Bypass, Southern Bypass and Enterprise Road.
