The Employment and Labour Relations Court has suspended the interdiction of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Deputy CEO Ruth Kulundu.

In a ruling, the court said the dismissal was unlawful adding that IEBC CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan breached the Commission’s human resource policy when he issued Kulundu an interdiction letter.

In the letter, Marjan accused Kulundu of misconduct and arranging an illegal commission plenary meeting during which four commissioners who disputed the 2022 presidential election results picked law firms that would represent the commission in the presidential election petition.

Marjan further claimed that Kulundu impersonated him and took over his responsibilities by performing duties bestowed on the CEO’s office.
