The Salaries Remuneration Commission has dismissed claims that it has increased house allowances for civil servants.

In a statement, the SRC termed the reports as untrue and misleading to the public saying it has not increased or abolished any allowances.

“SRC would like to take this early opportunity to clarify that it has not issued any circular, in reference to this story, on housing and hardship allowances, or abolished any allowances,” SRC said

The commission further advised the public to ignore such reports saying misinformation has led to false expectations from the public.

“SRC regrets that public service institutions and other interested parties have been misled and misguided by the story, and in some cases, it has created a false expectation, and other unintended consequences,” the commission stated

The statement by SRC comes after several media reports indicated that the commission had increased house allowances for civils servants.

The false reports claimed that civil servants in job group K would receive Ksh16, 500 monthly house allowance from the initial Ksh10,000 while those in job group A would receive an increase of Ksh3,750 from Ksh3,000.
