The Power of Mercy Advisory Committee pays a courtesy call to the DCI

The pardon petition process that can be accessed by petitioners or convicts is now digitized.

The Power of Mercy Advisory Committee members led by its Vice-Chairperson Dr Janet Kirui highlighted the progress during a visit to the Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin at his Mazingira Complex Offices.

During the courtesy call, both parties discussed areas of mutual collaboration.

On his part, Amin acknowledged the important role that the committee plays in advising the Head of State on exercising the prerogative of mercy and pardoning reformed offenders.

The Power of Mercy Advisory Committee was established pursuant to article 133 of the constitution, for the purpose of receiving and considering petitions by convicted criminal offenders, researching and collaborating with other relevant organs and expeditiously rendering independent advice to the President on the exercise of Power of Mercy.

Also present during the meeting was the Director of Inspections Patrick Ndunda, Director of Legal Affairs Amos Omuga and the Personal Assistant to the DCI Lawrence Some.
