President William Ruto has appointed Gen. (RTD.) Samson Mwathethe as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Forestry Research Institute, for a period of three years, with effect from 2nd February, 2023.

Ruto in addition revoked the appointment of John Waithaka who former President Uhuru Kenyatta had appointed as he wound up his term in office.

Through a Gazette notice published February 2nd, President Ruto also made other state appointments as well as revocations.

The other Kenyans appointed by the Head of State are:

1.      Dr Jane Lagat- Chairperson of the Women Enterprise Fund Advisory Board, for a period of three (3) years.

2.      Joseph Kimani Machiri- State Corporations Advisory Committee, for a period of three (3) years.

3.      Claire Sifuna Wanyama- State Corporations Advisory Committee, for a period of three (3) years.

4.      Ahmed Abdi Rashid- State Corporations Advisory Committee, for a period of three (3) years.

5.      Mary Murangi Mugo- State Corporations Advisory Committee, for a period of three (3) years.

6.      Caroline Cherono Kilisha- State Corporations Advisory Committee, for a period of three (3) years.

7.      Aden Noor Ali- Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Transport and Safety Authority, for a period of three (3) years.

8.      Mzee Mwinyi Mzee- Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority, for a period of three (3) years.

Other appointments were in addition made by the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning Njuguna Ndung’u, the Cabinet Secretary for Health Nakhumicha Wafula and the Cabinet Secretary for East African Community, the ASALs and Regional Development Rebecca Miano as follows:

1.      John Karani Ndiwa- Chairman of the Council of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 24th January, 2023.

2.      Jeremiah Kiio Nthusi- member of the Council of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 24th January, 2023.

3.      Fidel Muema Peter- member of the Council of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 24th January, 2023.

4.      Moses Allan Omondi- member of the Council of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 24th January, 2023.

5.      Jennifer Cirindi Njiru- member of the Council of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 24th January, 2023.

6.      Maryanne Kuvochi Karanja- member of the Council of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 24th January, 2023.

8.      Irine Ogamba- member of the National Health Insurance Fund Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 20th January, 2023.

9.      Dennis Muthomi Gitari- member of the National Health Insurance Fund Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 20th January, 2023.

10.   Ricky W. Kambi- member of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority.

11.   Dorcas Jibran- member of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority.

12.   Robert Mue Kisyula- member of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority.
