A grandson to former Cabinet Minister the late Njenga Karume is in police custody in relation to alleged trafficking of cocaine and marijuana.

Officers at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are holding James Njenga Kihato after being arrested in Nairobi alongside Lawrence Muketo Ngula and Joseph Mutua Kimeu.

The three were arrested from Kihato’s house in Lavington following a police operation. Several pounds of imported high-grade marijuana and sachets of hard drugs including cocaine were confiscated.

It is alleged that the late Karume’s grandson has been importing narcotics from several European countries and others.

The narcotics that he deals in are reported to be highly hallucinogenic, addictive and popular among the youth in Nairobi.
