North Eastern MPs defend Wario over alleged incompetence

By Kevin Wachira

A section of North Eastern Members of Parliament have defended embattled Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario over his alleged incompetence and corruption.

Various lawmakers and Kenyans alike have called for Wario’s sacking over what they claim is failure by his ministry to effectively coordinate team Kenya, during the recently concluded Olympic games.

In what appears a well choreographed scheme that perhaps saw the tax payer lose millions of shillings,  a bloated list of officials left for Rio where athletes underwent untold suffering, with Wario quoted saying he was  a victim of cartels.

With pressure mounting that Wario be shown the door, a section of lawmakers drawn from North Eastern region have come to his defence.

Led by Moyale MP Roba Duba, they argue that logistical failures cannot be blamed on Wario who has since disbanded the National Olympics Committee of Kenya.
