Police in Ruiru shot dead a notorious gangster who has been masquerading as a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier.

The gangster only known to the locals as “Bob Marley” was shot dead in a dramatic shoot out with the police.

Police recovered one pistol, jungle fatigue, a fake KDF identity card with the name, Lt. Byron, several bullets, a knife and passports from the gangster believed to be the mastermind of several robberies in Ruiru, Kasarani and Githurai Kimbo.

According to one of the neighbours only known as Mercy, Bob had a quiet demeanor that seemed to adequately hide his bad side.

“We knew him as a soldier living among us,” said Mercy.

The caretaker of the premises known as Njagi, the gangster had been elusive whenever he is asked for his identification only saying military people do not give out their details to civilians.

“I was shocked today morning when the police arrived and demanded he opens the door only for him to start shooting at them,” said Njagi.

Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira said that the gangster used to operate in Ruiru, Kasarani and Githurai Kimbo.

Thuranira urged the public to volunteer usable information that can help the police apprehend gangsters in order to secure their neighborhoods.
