Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has responded to the plight of Naromoru residents in Nyeri County following an invasion by a pride of five lions.

The lions strayed from Solio Ranch to Gatuanyaga area, killing a number of domestic animals.

One lioness has since been captured and translocated to one of KWS managed national parks.

A team of KWS officers is currently making efforts to locate three lions that moved to Mt. Kenya Holiday Homes and Golf Resort.

The KWS team comprising of rangers and veterinary officers is using a chopper to capture the lions.

“This is expected to be accomplished today. The team also hopes to drive away three elephants at Lamuria area” said  KWS spokesman Paul Gathitu,

Meanwhile, KWS is appealing to the community in the affected area to remain calm and report all cases of conflict as soon as any wildlife is sighted in their areas.
