Obado seeks divine intervention as County holds prayer day



Migori Governor Okoth Obado who is facing a host of legal and political challenges on Tuesday sought divine intervention during the County’s prayer day which was skipped by most local leaders.

The inter-denomination prayer day held at Migori County stadium was attended by the Governor, his wife Helen and several county assembly leaders among them MCAs.

It was a prayer meeting that its organizers said was to cleanse the alleged shuttered image of Migori County and its leadership following numerous bad press.

The Tuesday inter-denomination prayer day held at Migori County stadium called to among others pray for embattled Governor Okoth Obado who is facing two court cases, among them the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno and the illegal possession of guns allegedly found in his Rapogi rural home

But the prayer meeting, which was mostly attended by the governor’s loyal supporters and preachers who have been part of his campaign team, was skipped by all national elected leaders

All ten county legislators skipped the function despite being invited, with only Uriri MP Mark Nyamita sending his apologies and Women Representative Pamela Odhiambo saying she was still recuperating in hospital

Obado’s political nemesis, senator Ochillo Ayacko skipped the function but sent his office manager Richard Solo to represent him at the function

Besides the court cases, the Governor is being investigated by the Ethics and Ant-corruption commission over alleged corrupt dealings in his administration amounting to 2.5billion shillings.
