By Brenda Czeda-Radido

A political rally organized by Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed to launch his reelection bid turned chaotic after supporters of Migori Governor Okoth Obado clashed with those of his opponent Ocholi Ayako.

Several people were injured when bodyguards of the governor fired in the air to disperse the crowd that was baying for the governor.

Trouble is said to have when Migori governor Okoth Obado and his supporters blocked Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Kisumu Senator Nyang Nyong’o and his Siaya Counterpart James Orengo from holding the rally at Migori stadium.

Junet, Joho, Orengo and Nyong’o would later resort to using Posta Grounds in Migori town with Obado and his supporters hot on their heels.

Police had to shoot in the air and fire teargas canisters to disperse the rowdy crowd.

During the chaos a security officer attached to Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho was shot on the leg by a stray bullet.

Earlier in the day ODM office in Migori town was burnt down ahead of its official opening by Joho.

In Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong bodyguards were forced to fire in the air to disperse a group of rowdy youth that had blocked his entourage in Marachi Estate in the outskirts of Busia town during his campaigns ahead of the party primaries slated for this Friday.

The youth were accusing the governor of sidelining them and women in his administration.
