The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party will today nominate its flag bearer in the Msambweni by-election slated for December 15.
The exercise that closes at 5 pm kicked off to a smooth, peaceful start with the Party Kwale branch chairman and former Matuga MP Hassan Mwanyoha assuring the candidates of a credible poll.

The primaries are being conducted amid strict rules by the party’s new election board. Party leader Raila Odinga is on record saying the party will not favour any candidate.
“No one will be chosen by the party. We want transparency and justice so that we can prove to our rivals that Msambweni is indeed an ODM stronghold,” Raila said.
ODM Kwale branch vice-chair Nicholas Zani is battling it out with former Gombato/Bongwe MCA Omar Boga for the ODM ticket.
The winner in the nomination exercise will face Wiper’s Shee Abdulrahman, United Green Movement Party’s Liganje Mwakaonje, and independent candidates Feisal Bader and Mariam Sharlet Akinyi in the by-election.
The Msambweni seat fell vacant following the death of area MP Suleiman Dori in March.
