Omar Boga clinches ODM’s ticket for Mswambweni by-election

Former Bongwe-Gambato MCA Omar Idd Boga has been nominated as the Orange Democratic Party’s flag bearer in the Msambweni by-election slated for December 15.

Omar Boga who was contesting for ODM’s ticket against Nicholas Zani emerged victorious after gaining 6,183 votes with Zani managing 530 votes.

The exercise which was conducted on Thursday kicked off to smooth start with Party Kwale branch chairman and former Matuga MP Hassan Mwanyoha assuring the candidates of a credible poll.

The Msambweni seat fell vacant in March following the death of ODM MP Suleiman Dori.

Omar Boga will now face Wiper’s Shee Abdulrahman, United Green Movement Party’s Liganje Mwakaonje, and independent candidates Feisal Bader and Mariam Sharlet Akinyi for the Msambweni seat.

In September, Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju announced that the Party would not field a candidate in the Msambweni by-election a move Deputy President William Ruto seemed against.

Ruto claimed that the Jubilee Party was a national party and believed in the unity of the Country.
