Opips and Jardel’s new single “Obvious” is an energetic club banger
The who’s who of the Kenyan music scene changes every day and that makes it hard to keep up with who’s in and who’s out, who’s hot, who’s not hot right now and who’s not. Having said that, don’t be too hard on yourself if you’ve never heard of Opips and Jardel but what you should know, is that they just dropped a new single and it’s obviously a club banger.
Assuming you’ve never heard of them, Opips & Jardel of Team Mistari are fast rising in the Kenyan entertainment scene. The duo, who were nominated at the Pulse Music Awards for the ‘best group video’ award last year, has released a new banger called “obvious” featuring Kenyan rapper Pro. “Obvious” is the third single from their upcoming debut album and was produced by KidKay of Red Republik and mastered by acclaimed producer Magic Mike.
The sexy laid-back single and video is a great club tune set to rock dancehall and hip-hop music lovers alike. Set in Nairobi’s famed CBD Club – Tribeka Lounge, “Obvious” music video was directed by Odibz who perfectly captures the duo’s energy. Odibz was nominated last year for ‘music video director of the year’ in 2017 for his work on “Urembo” by Calvo Mistari.
Speaking about this new release, Opips said, “Our fans have been eagerly waiting for our next single since “Take it low” and finally we have something classy for them – I am sure they will definitely enjoy this!” The same was echoed by his longtime collaborator Jardel who says, “This song is a dedication to all the women out there. We just wanted to appreciate you and all your strength.” The duo has previously collaborated on a number of smash hit singles like “Chini Kwa Chini”, “Another Woman” and also teamed up with Calvo Mistari on “Take it Low” and “Paper & Glue”.
