Orders halting tendering of IEBC materials extended

By KBC Reporter

Temporary orders suspending the tendering of the supply of election materials by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission have been extended to January 16th when the matter will be heard.

Judge George Odunga directed that all the parties in the suit submit their responses in seven days considering the matter is of great public interest.

The electoral body through their lawyer Antony Lubulela said the demands by the CORD coalition would affect the timelines of the commission in line with the Elections Law.

Lubulela  also told the court it will be important for Alghurair printing and publishing company Limited of Dubai to be heard before the ruling on the matter is made.

The CORD coalition through lawyer James Orengo had argued that the ballot papers tendered for are not in compliance with the amended Elections Act to ensure they are in conformity with the integrated system.
