The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati says over 7,573,909 million Kenyans cast their ballot on the 26th October during the repeat presidential poll.

Focus shifted to the Chair as the counting of votes for the just concluded repeat presidential election entered its final lap on Sunday.

As the verification of votes continued late into the night, Chebukati said that the commission has not manipulated the presidential results in favour of the Jubilee party and is urging Kenyans to avoid speculation.

According to Chebukati, 36,882 KIEMS kits were used during the elections.

In explaining the discrepancy in the numbers as announced just after the close of voting, Chebukati says logs from the kits do not show the number of voters who were identified manually.

Chebukati has however refuted claims by the opposition alleging that IEBC is manipulating results to favor presidential Uhuru Kenyatta.

The poll’s body is urging Kenyans to avoid speculations saying the commission has conducted the electoral process in a transparent manner.
