Pain for motorists following partial closure of lanes on Thika Road

Motorists plying the Thika-Nairobi highway are set for more traffic disruptions as the Kenya National Highway Authority moves to repair sections of the road.

In a statement, the Authority says that maintenance works are currently ongoing at the carriageway between Nairobi-Ruiru and Ruiru-Thika sections.

The Authority says the road surface dressing works may result in temporary closure of some lanes during the day. Motorists have been advised to exercise caution around the new work areas.

“Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas, to follow the traffic management plan and the directions given by the traffic marshals.” The statement reads.

The latest disruptions come just days after motorists using the busy highway endured five days of traffic snarl-ups after the road was partially closed to allow the erection of a bridge. The works to erect the steel deck commenced on the section around garden city mall.
