Chepsongol maintained that the DP has not publicly opposed the bill being fronted by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga hence those celebrating that the DP is losing the support of both elected and nominated leaders across the country will be in for a rude shock.

The vocal Bartabwa Ward representative who was addressing journalists at the County Assembly grounds on Saturday during a presser skipped by fellow staunch supporters of the DP over unknown reasons, stated that Dr Ruto is very popular and they will fully support his 2022 presidential bid.

“Everyone has a role to play, the leaders did their part and voted, either YES or NO for BBI endorsement but for us we are focused on the 2022 polls,” Chepsongol stated.

Bartabwa Ward MCA stated that even though the BBI Bill sailed through in parliament, it has not distorted the UDA party plans of endorsing Dr Ruto as the fifth president come 2022 general elections.

However, Chepsongol claimed that BBI is not popular amongst Baringo residents as it is  only three MPs from the area who did not make their voice to be heard when it was being debated in parliament.

He called on the county women representative Gladwell Cheruiyot, legislators Joshua Kandie of Baringo Central and his Tiaty counterpart William Kamket to join fellow politicians from Rift Valley in solidifying their support to deputy president.

Chepsongol claimed that all the MPs who voted YES for BBI Bill were compromised and it was not out of their independent minds.

“All those MPs who voted YES to the BBI Bill have earned themselves a direct ticket home come the next general election because they were bribed so that they make that decision, who knows their next move? They may also proceed to get bribed and sell Kenya because of their selfish interests,” added the Chief Whip.

Chepsongol further suggested that if possible the three leaders should ditch their parties to join UDA which he claimed is gaining popularity amongst the residents of Baringo which has for long been termed as KANU zone.
