Police arrest 3 in possession of fake titles

By Victor Muyakane

Police in Thika have arrested three suspects found in possession of fake title deeds at the Thika Lands office.

Detectives pounced on the three when they presented the documents and whisked them away to the Thika police station in dramatic incident that temporarily disrupted business at the land registry.

The suspects who included a land broker were nabbed at Thika lands office in a sting operation that temporarily brought business to a standstill at the regions lands registry office.

Thika land registrar Bernard Leitich said the three who are believed to have been on a mission to sell two parcels of land in Ruiru and Juja Farm had gone to the office for land records before police pounced.

The registrar said cases of forgery and illegal transactions are rampant particularly in Ruiru where cons have been targeting lands buying companies.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court once police complete investigations.
