Police arrest five with ivory worth Ksh 1.8 million

Five suspected poachers including two teachers have been arrested in Kajiado with ivory estimated at Ksh 1.8 million. 

According to County Directorate of Criminal investigation officer Isaac Meme the suspects were arrested while transporting the ivories using a Probox vehicle KCB 980D and a motorbike used for surveillances KMCU 851 S and waiting to be arraigned in court on Monday.

An elephant was found killed at Emotoroki area within Mashuru Sub-County.

A report was made and intelligence-led investigations commenced and information was received that five people had arrived at Kajiado town with the intention of selling elephant tusks weighing 18kgs.

According to County Directorate of Criminal investigation officer Isaac Meme the suspects were arrested while transporting the ivories using a Probox vehicle KCB 980D and a motorbike used for surveillances KMCU 851 S.

Meme said, search for a firearm used to kill the elephant is still ongoing and has warned all those engaging on illegal deals that their days are numbered.

The suspects are awaiting to be arraigned in court on Monday.
