Police Constable Edward Kabachia arrested

Police Constable Edward Mwaniki Kabachia, a DCI detective based at Kisauni, Mombasa has been arrested.

Kabachia is accused of obtaining money by false pretence.

According to a post on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Twitter handle, Kabachia obtained a substantial amount of money from a lady by falsely pretending that he was capable of securing her two relatives’ job vacancies in the Kenya Prisons recruitment exercise held in 2017.

The post further says the suspect’s arrest follows the conclusion of an inquiry by DCI Likoni.

The inquiry recommended that the officer be charged with the offense of obtaining money by false pretences contrary to Section 313 of the Penal Code.

He is expected to be arraigned Wednesday.
