Police officers in Migori have intercepted bhang worth 7.4 million shillings that was being ferried from Migori to an unknown destination along the busy Kisii – Migori highway.
According the County Commissioner Joseph Rotich, the first consignment of bhang worth 2.3 million shillings was being ferried in a probox vehicle that sped off at a police roadblock prompting police officers to pursue it.
The second consignment was intercepted at Giribe, within Suna west while it was being packaged in readiness for transportation.
The commissioner said that the war on narcotics in Migori county has become difficult to tackle since traffickers have come up with new ways of packaging and transporting the drugs.
He however added that security officers are out in full force to deal with the traffickers.
The two drug consignments weighed 560 kilograms. The suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
