Police investigate alleged murder, suicide by KFS ranger

A Kenya Forest Service ranger attached to Njukiri Forest Camp in Embu County has allegedly shot dead a woman before ending his own life.

Confirming the incident, Embu West Sub County Police Commander Charles Kinyua said police were informed of the shooting which took place at Koimugo a few kilometres from Embu town.

On arrival to the crime scene, Kinyua said they found the lifeless body of the KFS officer and an unidentified woman outside a rented house.

He also revealed that the officer used an AK 47 which was recovered with 28 rounds of ammunition with an assumption that 2 rounds had been used.

The police commander, however, maintained that police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the heinous act.

The scene attracted a huge crowd which caused the police to have a hard time cordoning off the scene.

The bodies of the diseased have since been taken to Embu Level 5 Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.

The Police Commander is now urging citizens and members of the disciplinary forces to embrace dialogue and seek assistance as opposed to committing suicide.
