Police officers to get new uniforms soon, CS Matiang’i

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i says the new police uniforms will be available to all officers in a few weeks’ time.

Matiang’i who visited the National Youth service headquarters where the uniforms are being made disclosed that the government was saving over 700 million shillings in the making of police uniforms locally.

He advised other government ministries to follow suit and embrace local manufacturing instead of unnecessary importation of products.

Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary Margaret Kobia stressed the need for all government departments to embrace the move   to support local industries and Kenyans.

The NYS garment chain has the capacity to produce 1000 pairs of uniforms per day.
