Police say security heightened ahead of Easter Holidays

Security operations have been ramped up across the country ahead of Easter festivities along with other key events set to take place in the month of April.

Police Spokesperson Bruno Shioso, in a statement said the National Police Service is on high alert to ensure safety as Christians and Muslims prepare to usher in the Easter holidays and  the Holy month of Ramadhan, respectively.

Shioso noted that the African Rally Championship (ARC) is also set to be held in Naivasha besides the ongoing KCSE examinations saying the events may present insecurity opportunities hence the preparedness.

“The National Police Service with its partners within the multiagency framework have taken adequate measures to provide security in all public places. Special arrangements have been made to secure major urban areas,” he said

He also stated that security agencies have enhanced surveillance and intelligence capabilities against suspicious individuals and organized gangs.

Shioso further called on Kenyans to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the Police.

“The National Police Service appeals to members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities or persons through our hotline: 999, 112, or DCI toll free number 0800 722 203,” he stated
