Police to investigate tweets issuing threats to ignite ethnic clashes

National Police Service says it is investigating some tweets supposedly issued by named individual issuing threats to ignite inter-ethnic clashes similar to what occurred in 2007/8 in parts of the country.

In their tweets Thursday, the police say they are taking the threats as a serious matter, and that they are working with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) with a view to dealing with the persons involved in accordance with the law.

Meanwhile, the commission says it has noted with concern the irresponsible statement on Twitter by one Dennis Kiptoo Mutai.

The commission has already commenced investigation with a view to taking appropriate action.
