President Uhuru Kenyatta is in India where he will be the Chief Guest at the 8th edition of the Gujarat Global summit bringing together Heads of State and Government as well as stakeholders in development.
President Kenyatta is expected to rally for closer cooperation between India and Kenya on areas of health and security.
The President who arrived on Tuesday morning for a two day state visit preceded by his attendance of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.
He is scheduled to hold a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi before he addresses the summit.
The focus of the summit being Sustainable Economic and Social Development bringing together Heads of States and Governments and other stakeholders from around the world to further the cause of development and promote cooperation.
President Kenyatta will also hold talks with Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and lead the Kenyan delegation in bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi and his delegation with trade, healthcare, manufacturing, security, defence and Information, Communication and Technology being top on the agenda.
While visiting Kenya last year, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged support for Kenya as it seeks to establish healthcare facilities to battle cancer.
While in Kenya, the Indian Prime Minister and President Kenyatta oversaw the signing of seven deals including the $15 million Line of Credit Agreement to IDB Capital Limited for development of small and medium enterprises and the $29.95 million Line of Credit Agreement to upgrade Rivatex factory.
