President Kenyatta pays tribute to former Minister Mwendwa


President Uhuru Kenyatta has paid tribute to former Cabinet Minister Eliud Ngala Mwendwa who died Wednesday at a Nairobi hospital.

The President described the late Mwendwa, 93, as great leader who devoted the prime years of his life to serving the nation.

In his message of condolence and encouragement to the family, relatives and friends, President Kenyatta said: “As we mourn and pay homage to this visionary leader, let us also celebrate his life and achievements.”

The President said Mwendwa – who was the first Member of the Legislative Council for Kitui in 1963 lived an inspirational life that will remain a great legacy to his family and many others who knew him.

President Kenyatta noted that it was Mwendwa’s outstanding service as the people’s representative that earned him the appointment to the position of Cabinet Minister for Labour and Social Services.

The President said the late Mwendwa will be remembered for the various development community projects he initiated in Kitui county.
