President Kenyatta tours ferry headquarters

Plans by the government to build the Dongo Kundu bypass are at an advanced stage. This will decongest Mombasa and offer an alternative route to the South Coast.

Speaking when he visited the Kenya Ferry Services headquarters Monday President Uhuru Kenyatta, the proposed construction of the Changamwe by-pass that will link the western part of Mombasa and the North Coast will solve the perennial traffic jams.

After meeting senior officials, the President was conducted on a tour of the parastatal’s offices at Likoni in Mombasa County. He also used the ferry when he crossed the Likoni channel.
He was accompanied by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala and Kenya Ferry Services officials.

The ferry services at Likoni have had several challenges as a result of frequent mechanical breakdown of the old vessels and their costly maintenance.
