President Ruto: Kenya has a strong bond with China

As China’s Belt and Road Initiative celebrates its 10th anniversary, one flagship infrastructure project best epitomizes the solid bond between two countries on the African continent, namely Kenya’s Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).

But the China-Kenya relations go beyond trade and investment. In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG’s Wang Guan sat down with Kenyan President William Ruto to delve into what he calls the “BRI conversation” has achieved and how it provides a vision for the 21st century. He categorically refutes the “debt trap” narrative, calling it a “myth” and a “rumor.”
