Prisons Women Volleyball team leaves for Tunisia Championship

By KBC Reporter

The Kenya Prisons Women Volleyball team left the country Wednesday morning for Tunis to take part in the CAVB African Women Volleyball Club Championship which serves off this Friday in Tunisia.

Kenya Prisons and record champions Kenya Pipeline, will represent the country in the annual continental competition and both head coaches are confident either of them will come back home with the title.

Should the two Kenyan sides meet in the final, Prisons have the upper hand as they have beaten their perennial rivals in all the three championship they have met; during the 2010, 2011 and 2012 editions.

Prisons last won the African title in 2013 after beating GSP Alger of Algeria 3-2 in a hotly contested final in Madagascar.

However, their title defense went up in smoke in 2014 when Alger had the last laugh in Tunis after beating them in straight sets.

Having failed to qualify for the tournament last year, Lung’aho is counting on the hunger to win back the title to propel his side to victory.
