Prominent businessman shot dead in Kimende, Kiambu County

Shock and fear has gripped Kimende area of Lari in Kiambu County after suspected hitmen killed a prominent businessman area in the area.
The business man was found murdered a few hours after he was kidnapped on Monday evening.
The body of David Mbute Githiri was found at Redhill along the Kabuku Ruaka road by passersby on Tuesday morning with deep wounds on his head.
His father Githiri Mbute alleges that his son’s estranged wife could have hired hitmen to eliminate the businessman.
Eyewitnesses who were present during the abduction said five people claiming to be police officers blocked the victim before handcuffing him and later bundled him into a waiting Honda vehicle whose registration has been handed to police.
Police officers led by Limuru AP Sub-County commander James Mwaura said the body had deep cuts.
Elsewhere in Kikuyu Sub-County a businessman Zack Nganga who operated a pub in Thamada village in Muguga was shot dead by armed robber who left without taking anything from the slain businessman.
The gangsters fled after shooting the businessman.
His brother John Mungai who was called by neighbours after the heard the gunshots, rushed his brother to Kenyatta National Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Residents are calling on the government to construct a police post in the are noting that the crime rate has soared.
